“In The Shadow”: Fabrice Mathieu’s noir prequel was made from more than fifty film scenes

By on August 20, 2015

In this unique short mashup by French filmmaker Fabrice Mathieu, In The Shadow, a shadow has decided to get rid of his “Wearer.” Mathieu assembled this unique film from extracted scenes from over fifty films.

This short film — narrated from the shadow’s point of view (Roger Candy is the Narrator) — is a prequel to a feature-length script (also called Dans l’ombre), written by Mathieu, who describes himself on his Vimeo page this way: Réalisateur, scénariste, cadreur, monteur truquiste (Director, screenwriter, operator, editor).

The soundtrack includes excerpts from film music scores where Theremin was used, composed by Roque Baños and Danny Elfman.

This feature-length project — the short has already won 4 awards! — is currently looking for producers, so if you’re interested, please contact Fabrice via Vimeo or email: fabricemathieu@orange.fr
