Free On-line Dictionary of Computing

Becoming a FOLDOC Guest Editor

I receive a steady stream of new entries for FOLDOC and I'm usually struggling to keep up. Each entry needs to be edited into the correct form before it can be inserted into the dictionary. To speed things up I decided to recruit volunteer Guest Editors to whom I could farm out this work. This has proved quite successful and allows me to get entries processed and inserted much quicker.

Your mission, should you decide to accept it, would be to take submissions I forward to you (along with any existing entry on the subject) and e-mail me back one or more new dictionary entries. This may involve simply marking up the text you receive or, depending on how keen you are, you might want to improve the content by discussion with the original author or using other resources.

Occasionally I just get a URL as a suggestion for the source of a definition. I pass these on to an editor to follow up and summarise to produce a definition. It would thus be an advantage if you have regular web access.

I'd like to help, what do I do next?

Please read the instructions for Guest Editors. If you decide to volunteer, I will e-mail you your first submission to edit.
