Years before she appeared on Mr. Show & later became a star on ’24′ as Chloe, I had a mad crush on Mary Lynn Rajskub (who I went to Art School with for a year). Ya that’s right ya Chloe-fevered schmucks… Go eat yer Neo-Con paltry thriller computer chipped hearts out. Man, I hate that fuckin show… but I digress… Back then, Mary Lynn used to perform strangely hilarious shy stuttering open mic poetry as performance art spazz comedy routines and one fateful night we ended up at a house party dancing together like freezing mongoloid monkeybots caught in a temporal tractor-beam. An opportunity had finally presented itself… I was dancing with the girl I had been dreaming about all semester long but here I was rattling and shaking like a busted-up animatronic idiot from Showbiz Pizza! Oh no It’s all coming clear now… I remember how she seemingly tried to reach out to me, by playfully mocking my robo-retardo moves… but in my completely flabbergasted stoned-ass state I kept on devolving my moves into goofier and goofier spasms and tics until we stood there miming a robotic Russian winter of 1812. It was fun and we laughed about it but I could hardly speak, no wit to twit… Damn You POt! Sometimes I can get too stoned and then throw a heapin helpin of nervous nelly nerves on top and… forrgeddabouttit… I lose the ability to put together sentences and resort solely on telepathy…
But nothing ever came of it. I had fizzled or she had had a boyfriend… regardless she graduated soon after in the spring.
Years later when I discovered the above track, it kinda strangely rekindled my long ago, but not entirely forgotten, unrequited crush and for a brief moment it became my mantra for my last hurrah! of how I was finally, Shockingly! going to woo her… but really it made me question why whenever I wasn’t with anyone, I would remember her and still hold out some goofy hope that someday someway in summertime something might happen between us? I guess I thought she was my ‘one that got away’ ha! what a stretch… But after all the years that had passed, this goofy song, of all things(?) was finally forcing my hand… I resolved that: “The daydream must attempt to become reality! Dopey delusions & daydreams be damned!”
